Despina Villa Agia-Marina
Despina Villa is rated as Class A in self-catering accommodation, where A represents the best and E represents the most humble. The rating indicates quality but not necessarily luxury. Empty and windswept in winter, crystal blue and tree-studded in summer, the safe sandy beach of Agia Marina is a focal point of Agia Marina 's beauty and a popular meeting place where you have a choice of cafes and restaurants.
The villa stands alone on the edge of Agia Marina village, in a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by an olive grove on one side, open field on two sides and two elegant Greek family houses with gardens on the fourth side. Although only 500 metres from the sandy beach, to reach the beach you have to walk back up the cul-de-sac and around houses, so it takes about 8 minutes. Its location makes for a quieter and more secluded atmosphere despite being in the village. The hills behind Agia Marina abound with olive and orange groves, providing plenty of opportunity for long country walks.
The Villa and Facilities
The villa can sleep 12 to 14, but is divided into three spacious two-bedroom well-appointed apartments so that smaller parties can be accommodated. The two first-floor apartments are comfortable for 5 (2 in one bedroom, 3 in the second) with a generous-size sitting room and open-plan kitchen/dining area. Each has views over the village rooftops to the sea and Agios Theodoros island from their balconies. The third apartment, on the ground floor, is comfortable for 4 people, sleeping 2 in each bedroom, with an open plan sitting/dining room and kitchen. This apartment has French windows to the ground-floor terraces lined with exotic shady foliage, its own small balcony and immediate access to the garden and swimming pool.
Each apartment has a well-appointed bathroom with cooling marble-tiled walls and light stone-tiled floors providing a small bath, shower and toilet. The villa is tastefully furnished in Mediterranean style, well finished, light and airy, and has light marble flooring and 3 well-equipped kitchens. Air conditioning is available in summer and heating in winter, and each apartment has a television.
Each apartment has its private balcony with table and chairs where you can sip your morning coffee watching the village waking up, or relax in the evening with your glass of locally produced wine watching the sunset.
The small swimming pool, shared by the three apartments, offers a welcome opportunity for a family splash together in the morning before the beach, or in the evening after a day's shopping. Tall palms and a banana tree in the garden provide some welcome shade by the pool-side sun-drenched
terrace at the hottest time of day.
Services and amenities provided
All linen, bath towels, foot towels and beach towels are included, with linen and bath
towels changed twice a week. A maid cleans and tidies for you every other day. A cot can be added where needed at no cost. Each apartment has an open-plan kitchen, large fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. You are also very welcome to use the beach-side taverna and swimming pool in Gerani where our other villas are located.
